One of the most important aspects of the holiday season is showing gratitude to family, friends and neighbours.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many of BC\u2019s craft breweries are showing appreciation to their customers for all the support they have received this year by giving back to the community in a variety of ways, including: fundraising for flood victims, supporting scholarships for underrepresented students in the industry, and raising awareness about the need to create and provide safer, more inclusive environments for women and BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals.<\/span><\/p>\n

All proceeds from the sale of each four-pack of the Community Pilsner will be donated directly to the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Helping Hands Community Pilsner<\/b><\/h2>\n

Led by Coquitlam\u2019s Mariner Brewing<\/a>, this benefit beer aims to raise $30,000 to benefit victims of the recent floods that have devastated communities around BC. All proceeds of the sale of each four-pack will be donated directly to the<\/span> Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other partners in this collaboration included Vancouver\u2019s Main St. Brewing, which donated the yeast culture and helped brew the beer; Abbotsford\u2019s Field House Brewing<\/a>, which donated the malt; Vancouver\u2019s<\/span> Hops Connect<\/span><\/a>, which donated the hops; Langley\u2019s<\/span> Blue\/Meta<\/span><\/a>, which designed the label; Port Coquitlam\u2019s<\/span> Mile 37 Craft Canning Co.<\/span><\/a>, which offered up cans for the cause; and the Parkside Brewery<\/a>, which will distribute the beer.<\/span><\/p>\n

The beer is available at more than 70 stores across the lower mainland from Vancouver to Chilliwack, as well as at the participating brewery partners. (See the list at the bottom of this blog.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Flood Relief Golden Ale<\/b><\/h2>\n

Russell Brewing<\/a> has released a new charity beer in collaboration with the <\/span>Great Little Box Company<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flood Relief Golden Ale (4.5% ABV) is described as \u201can elegant and bright golden ale, featuring hop additions of Citra and Idaho 7, lending vibrant aromas of tropical and citrus fruit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Flood Relief is available now at select beer retailers. $2 from each 4-pack sold, up to a total of $5000, will be donated to the <\/span>Red Cross BC Flood & Extreme Weathers Appeal<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The New School brew was a collaboration between Dead Frog Brewery in Langley, the BC Craft Brewers Guild and the KPU Brew Lab.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

New School Dry Hopped M\u00e4rzen<\/b><\/h2>\n

Not only does the New School Dry Hopped M\u00e4rzen pair well with turkey and all the trimmings, but proceeds of the sale of each can sold will also be donated directly to the<\/span> BC Hospitality Foundation<\/span><\/a> and its <\/span>Nancy More Award<\/b>, which supports female or underrepresented students in Kwantlen Polytechnic University\u2019s Brewing & Brewery Operations diploma program.<\/span><\/p>\n

A crisp, copper-coloured lager with a rich malt base and fresh bursts of citrus from Mandarina Bavaria hops, the New School brew was a collaboration between Dead Frog Brewery<\/a> in Langley, the<\/span> BC Craft Brewers Guild<\/span><\/a> and the KPU Brew Lab<\/a>. The New School Dry Hopped M\u00e4rzen is available at over 50 BC Liquor Stores and on tap and in cans at Dead Frog Brewery\u2019s taproom.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brave Noise<\/b><\/h2>\n

Several BC breweries are participating in a global collaborative effort called<\/span> Brave Noise<\/span><\/a>, which aims to create and provide safer, more inclusive environments for women and BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals throughout the beer industry. The eight BC breweries that are taking part are:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • House of Funk Brewing<\/span><\/a> on <\/span>Vancouver\u2019s North Shore Ale Trail<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n
  • Herald St. Brew Works<\/span><\/a> on the <\/span>Victoria Ale Trail<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n
  • Jackknife Brewing<\/span> <\/a>on the <\/span>Kelowna and West Kelowna Ale Trail<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n
  • Land & Sea Brewing<\/span><\/a> on the <\/span>Vancouver Island Part II Ale Trail<\/span><\/a>; and,<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Persephone Brewing<\/span><\/a> on the <\/span>Sunshine Coast Ale Trail<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Emptry Keg Brewhouse is giving back to flood relief initiatives.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

    Give Back December in Merritt<\/b><\/h2>\n

    After all the devastating flooding in Merritt, its local brewery, the Empty Keg Brew House<\/a>, has been offering free boiled water to local residents living under a boil water advisory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cWe also are hosting a whole month of \u2018Give Back\u2019 in December where $1 from the sale of each and every beer made on site will be donated to local flood victims,\u201d said Kyle Hall, Empty Keg\u2019s owner-brewmaster. \u201cThese are the same people that supported us during our struggle to make ends meet when the shutdowns occurred. We owe them!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
